Summer Palace

The structure was built entirely teak and stands adorned with pillars, arches and balconies. It is believed that Tipu Sultan used to conduct his durbar (court) from the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor. There are four smaller rooms in the corners of first floor which were Zenana Quarters.

Sangama

Sangam, located near a temple, is the confluence of three rivers. At this point, other branch of the River Cauvery, Loakpavani is reunited. Apart from being frequented by tourists wishing to take a dip at the site to wash away their sins, the place is also thronged by those interested in picnicking.

Nimishamba Temple

The stone ‘Sri Chakra’ kept in front of the idol of a deity has an interesting legend associated with it. It is said that the founder of this holy spot was Muktharaja, a king, who inscribed the ‘Sri Chakra’ before going into penance.

Ranganatha Temple

The credit of building the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple goes to the rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. Later, The Hoysala kings and Hyder Ali made additional expansions to the temple. The Hoysala kings, Mysore Wodeyar kings and the kings of Vijayanagara have contributed a lot towards the expansion of the temple structure.

Tippu Death Place

The place where Tipu’s body was found is close to the northern fringe of the fort. The road from Masjid-e-ala ( the mosque with minarets you see as you enter Srirangapatna ) towards the Water Gate passes by this point.A fenced area with a stone marks the area where his body was found.

Gumbaze

The Gumbaz is designed in the Persian style, with a large rectangle shaped garden, having a path leading to the mausoleum. In the middle of the garden, the Gumbaz stands on an elevated platform. The dome is supported by sharply cut black granite pillars. The doors and windows have latticework cut through in stone on the same black granite material.

Bird Sanctuary

This bird sanctuary is spread across an area of 40 acres. In 1600s, a small dam across the Cauvery River led to the formation of Ranganathittu. It was because of world renowned ornithologist Doctor Salim Ali determination and ability to convince the then Mysore maharaja that Ranganathittu was declared as a protected area.

Brindavan Garden

Constructed in 1932 by the Diwan of Mysore, Sir Mirza Ismail, Brindavan Garden is visited by millions of tourists every year. It has symmetrical designs and terrace gardens clustered around topiaries, pergolas and gazebos look captivating.
